Top 5 Reasons You Need Nutritional Therapy
#1 - You are trying to make healthy choices, but nutrition advice is conflicting and overwhelming.
We have ALL been there. The world is full of advice for how to be the healthiest, or lose weight, or get fit, or balance hormones, or “cleanse” or whatever it is. Do I eat 6 small meals a day or fast? Do I cut calories or count macros? Do I workout high intensity daily, or take rest days and sync to my cycle? Is dairy making me fat? Is vegetable oil heart healthy or health destructive? Paleo or vegan?? It depends on who you ask, and you can search the internet and find a case for whichever side you want to. While there are some things that are true across the board, your health is entirely individual. The healthiest choices for you are just that- individual to you! Nutritional therapy takes into account your health history, your environmental exposures, sleep, stress, hormones, sensitivities, work, budget, time, etc. No program, or info on the internet knows all of this about you! Partnering with a nutritional therapy practitioner gives you someone to know your whole journey and tailor health recommendations to everything pertinent.
#2 - You want to address specific conditions or symptoms with a root-caused, holistic approach.
Perhaps you have symptoms that do not seem right, or a diagnosis you want to support your body through. Or maybe your labs all come back “normal” but you still don’t feel yourself. In nutritional therapy, together we will use your symptoms as tools to determine which systems and organs on the body need the most support and target that area with nutrition and lifestyle changes. There are certain key factors that come into play with different conditions and combined with your individuality- it can make all the difference to work with someone who has studied the science but also knows about you. This can apply to things like supporting thyroid health, decreasing bloat, or supporting hormone balance for higher energy levels and reduced cravings, or eating to support postpartum hormones…these can all be supported with proper nutrition!!
#3- You want to be healthy from the inside out, addressing root causes and the body as a whole.
The human body was intricately designed as one whole unit where each part works beautifully in-sync with one another. With a different doctor for every possible problem, the current medical model does not acknowledge this. Keeping this beautiful truth in mind, nutritional therapy will focus on what your body needs in order to get itself back into balance. A body in balance knows what to do and has incredible capacity to heal, restore, regenerate, and correct itself when given the tools to do so! This is why addressing health at the root of the problem will have lasting impact, rather than just targeting the symptoms. When we bring it all back to supporting the six foundations- diet, digestion, blood sugar regulation, fatty acids, minerals, & hydration - many start to notice symptom burden decrease ALL across the board due to the massive impact each of these foundations has on the body, and due to the way the body works as one whole.
#4 - You want to learn how to fuel your body and the foods that work best for you as an individual.
Bio-individuality is everything! As I said in point 1, nobody else has the same body as you do. No one else's body reacts the same as yours does. Taking the time to learn your body’s unique needs and triggers is a critical step in creating optimal health for the long-run and supporting your body to find its balance again.
#5 - You are ready to make food and lifestyle changes in order to fuel your body and feel great.
Last, but not least, nutritional therapy takes effort on your part. It’s not worth it to have someone provide recommendations if you don’t put them into practice. The recommendations could be the key to everything you hope for with your health, but you will never know if you do not implement it! Signing up for nutritional therapy means you are ready to tackle your health head on, and make body-loving choices day-in and day-out. With nutritional therapy, you are getting someone to join that journey with you and support you every step of the way! You don’t have to do it alone.
